What is a Cyber Doc?
A cyber doc is a document exchange between the attorney and the
paralegal student, and an integral part of the Paralegal
Internshiip Program at Mission College.
It is very simple, the attorney and student communicate via a
"threaded discussion" (aka = "hypernews"
forum) Here is an example of a Cyber Doc
(the password = goodbye) between Team 1: Attorney Esparza and
Paralegal Student Hernandez. To enter the cyberdoc, only the attorney
and paralegal have the "password", thus making the exchange
of information and documentation "confidential, as it should
be to protect the attorney-client privilege of the law firm which
is participating in the Mission College Paralegal Internship Program.
Attorney and paralegal student are set up with a "hypernews"
forum. To commence the internship, the participating attorney
visits L.A. Mission College,
and receives a tour of the Paralegal
Studies Program by David Jordan, Esq. the Director
of the program. The attorney is introduced to the student(s) assigned
to work with the attorney, along with the Director, and the scope,
nature, and details of the "assigned work" is settled
upon. From that point forward, the attorney/paralegal will communicate,
as desired, by telephone, in person, by fax, or, preferrably by
cyber docs. This will allow constant supervision and guidance
from both the attorney, and the instructor from the Paralegal
Program assigned to "mentor" the paralegal student intern.
Upon completion of the project(s) to the satisfaction of the attorney,
the attorney will "sign off" on a completion form, and
provide a letter of recommendation for use by the paralegal student
in his/her resume to assist that student to obtain future employment
in the paralegal field.
