Instructions to Course and Classwork
                                                             Paralegal Internships

Paralegal Internships
The Paralegal Internship will provide "hands on" practical legal experience for the Mission College Paralegal Student to better prepare him/her to enter the paralegal job market.

Methodology: The internship will consist of a 3 credit, evening class, which will become a required
course in the Paralegal Program Certificate in Spring 2001. Students participating prior to formal
curriculum approval will be given course credit under Directed Study Program of Mission College.

The paralegal student will be personally supervised by a practicing attorney in the field, and with
"mentoring" by the Director of the Paralegal Program, or a Paralegal Law Instructor.

Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, the participating attorney/law firm will provide a letter
of recommendation to the paralegal student which can be used to assist the student in obtaining
future employment in the paralegal field.

Cyber Docs: Both Student and Attorney will exchange documents, work, revisions, comments,
through the use of Cyber Docs (use of confidential "hypernews" threaded discussions). See Cyber Docs for more information on this method of document exchange between attorney and paralegal.
